Martha H. Schumacher

President and CEO

Leading the way is Hazen’s President, Martha H. Schumacher, CFRE, ACFRE, MInstF (AdvDip). Martha is an international philanthropic thought leader, consultant, author, speaker, coach and champion. Dedicated to unparalleled client service, she provides training and coaching, executive campaign counsel, and comprehensive major gifts strategy. An AFP Global Past Chair and AFP/DC Outstanding Professional Fundraiser of the Year, Martha has been working with and within nonprofit organizations for 25 years. She lives with her husband Casey and their two sweet yet energetic rescue dogs Gage and Josie. When Martha’s not traveling for business or pleasure, she enjoys hiking the Billy Goat Trail on the Potomac and taking in Washington’s vibrant culture.

Amy Butler Smith

Senior Advisor

Hazen’s Senior Advisor, Amy Butler Smith, M.Ed. has been an integral part of the Hazen team since 2010. Experienced in strategy development, philanthropy, client relations, marketing & communications, and event management, Amy has played key roles on health nonprofit teams including the Children’s Miracle Health Network and National Campus Leadership Council. She holds a Master’s Degree in Higher Ed Administration, working in academia including Case Western Reserve University and Kent State University, the latter where she taught several classes. Amy lives in Washington, DC with her husband Jacob and their son Jack.
