She has experience in strategy development, philanthropy, client relations, marketing, communications, and event management. Amy is working to set the strategy for the future of Hazen Inc. and connecting with clients to help them do the same. In May 2014, Amy completed her Master’s Degree in Higher Education Administration, giving her insight into how to lead complex organizations. She has worked for health nonprofits, including Children’s Miracle Network and Pulmonary Hypertension Association, and universities such as Case Western Reserve University and Kent State University, where she taught several classes. Amy currently serves on the board of the Terp Thon Alumni Network, supporting University of Maryland students raising money for Children’s National Health Systems. Amy and her husband Jacob live within a large refugee community in Riverdale, MD as a way to help with the difficult transition to the United States and to learn from the many cultures around them.
Hazen’s Executive Assistant, Taryn Smith, is the newest addition to the team as of January 2016. She is an established professional with experience in people management, daily operations, heavy client correspondence, office organization, and computer proficiency. Taryn’s passion for service to others drives her desire to work with Hazen Inc. and to provide high quality service to our clients to help them achieve their goals. Taryn spent ten years in the hospitality industry, largely in management and training. During that time, she studied Legal Studies/Pre-Law at the University of Houston-Clear Lake, where she helped lead the Legal Studies Association in their mock trial presentations. She also worked for two law firms, managing multiple client responsibilities. Taryn has volunteered for many organizations, including the Salvation Army and Habitat for Humanity. She also spent time volunteering as an International & Intercultural Student Tutor, Inner City Houston Vacation Bible School Leader, and Event Coordinator for Anchor Point. Taryn currently lives in La Marque, TX with her fiancee and son. She enjoys spending time on the water with her family, cooking healthy meals, and attending local mothers groups that support each other in times of need.
